I use techniques that can affect the myofascial layers of connective tissue between the muscles where tension can accumulate. This release can very often trigger deep emotional responses in the client that are allowed to release as they need to. (See section on “Emotional Release”).
Along with tendons and ligaments these layers of connective tissue are what give us our range of movement. If there is a problem, (due to injury or trauma, for example), we sometimes lose the flexibility of these layers between the muscles as well as the muscles themselves and nerves can get trapped where they would not necessarily want to be. This is because the connective tissue transfers the force of contraction from cell to cell as muscles react to nerve or hormonal stimulation, also providing support for muscle fibres along with capillaries and nerves.
